With anticipation building for a big Diablo announcement at next month’s BlizzCon, Blizzard Entertainment got out ahead of its annual fan convention to temper expectations about what to expect from the franchise.

Blizzard made a similar expectations-setting announcement last year, outright saying it wouldn’t have news to share about Diablo at BlizzCon 2017. For this year’s show, Blizzard appears to be suggesting that we shouldn’t expect what many Diablo fans are expecting — aka Diablo 4.

“These are very exciting times — we currently have multiple teams working on different Diablo projects and we can’t wait to tell you all about them ... when the time is right,” Blizzard said in a blog post. “We know what many of you are hoping for and we can only say that ‘good things come to those who wait,’ but evil things often take longer. We appreciate your patience as our teams work tirelessly to create nightmarish experiences worthy of the Lord of Terror.”

Blizzard said it does “intend to share some Diablo-related news with you at the show,” but it sounds like a major game announcement isn’t in the cards.

What might happen at BlizzCon 2018 is news of an animated Diablo series, which was rumored to be in production at streaming giant Netflix. We’ll know soon enough; BlizzCon 2018 kicks off on Nov. 2, the same day that Diablo 3: Eternal Collection makes its debut on Nintendo Switch.

Diablo Immortal is coming to PC, Blizzard announced early Monday morning. Alongside the announcement, the studio revealed a host of changes for the PC version, such as controller support, UI scaling buy Diablo 4 Boosting, and cross-progression. But it also revealed why the PC edition of Diablo Immortal exists: to combat emulation.
