The Invasion Portal during the Tides of Hell event in Diablo 4 appears to have an exploit that is affected by a specific state. Diablo 4 takes a more live service style in an attempt to keep players working for loot for a long time. After the campaign ends, players have a lot to do in the final game and in the upcoming seasonal content. As Season 1 approaches, players seem to be divided over some of the season rules Diablo 4 has set. Players can have enough Diablo IV Gold in the game.

One of Diablo 4's premium events is an event called Helltide, which can randomly appear in specific Level 3 areas of the world and last for about an hour. During Helltides, demons flood into the area, forcing players to defeat as many enemies as possible for high-end rewards and resources such as Abnormal Cinders, Demon Roses, and Tormented Gifts. While these events can be extremely dangerous, the rewards are worth the effort. However, invading portals seems to have some strange and unexpected behaviors.

On Diablo 4's subReddit, a user named ZackFair999 posted a short video during the Helltide event in which an invasion portal spawned in an enemy behaved erratically. At various points in the video, the portal would suddenly dart away like a treasure goblin fleeing from the player. The portals proved to be affected by the fear state effect, as skeleton icons would appear above them as they dashed away. Naturally, this made the experience more tedious as the portals disappeared, forcing the player to chase them while enemies continued to appear.

The comments section was very pleased with this realization, with many users taking the opportunity to joke about it and others saying they weren't surprised considering the bleeding and poisoning effects could be applied to inanimate objects like doors, walls, and wooden statues. Others lamented that the event was made more difficult because players were using Diablo 4 Necromancer, a profession that has few movement options to chase running portals.

So far, the running portals aren't the only strange bugs and glitches fans have encountered. In fact, one player had a strange encounter with Diablo 4's Vicious Butcher. While the encounter was based entirely on RNG, this player encountered a completely pacifist version of the iconic Diablo boss. instead of fighting back, the AI tried to flee the player, which caused the fight to drag on longer than usual.
